“Down a narrow alley in the Belem district lies Enoteca de Belem, a wine bar whose reputation for excellence and innovation belies its tiny size. The wine and port list is of course massive, and the friendly and approachable staff make this a perfect place to become acquainted with Portuguese wine. The food that they serve to accompany the wine is often surprising but never disappointing, with such dishes as Basil Ice Cream with Tomato and Mozzarella salad a particular delight. As the restaurant only serves around 16 at a time, plus 3 at the bar, booking is highly advisable.
